Purchasing Executive

You will play a fundamental role in providing exceptional service at Greenmill through taking responsibility for the sourcing and ordering of specials (non-stock items) and dealing with faulty/warranty returns.

Location: Colchester, Essex
Salary: £25-28k per annum
Working Hours: 8.30am – 5.15pm (Monday-Friday)
What will you be doing?

You will join our Purchasing team, currently made of 7 members, who underpin operational stock-related activities in support of fulfilling our promise to customers of ‘In Stock, On Site, On Time’.

You will play a fundamental role in providing exceptional service at Greenmill through taking responsibility for the sourcing and ordering of specials (non-stock items) and dealing with faulty/warranty returns. You will need to possess a keen eye for detail as this role requires checking supplier quotes in relation to specials, whilst working under pressure against deadlines.

Your responsibilities:
  • Sourcing and pricing of specials (non-stock items).
  • Responsible for the process of dealing with faulty and warranty returns from the Warehouse.
  • Responding to data sheet requests from colleagues.
  • Setting up product codes.
  • Handling allocated emails within the Purchasing team inbox.
  • Supplier Account Management (as allocated).
  • Focus on continuous improvement of processes.
Skills and Experience:
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build long lasting relationships.
  • Ability to work within a team but also demonstrate the skills to use own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage varying tasks and workload.
  • Great attention to detail and proficiency to input accurate information.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and time frames.
  • Efficiency, and a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and make decisions that positively impact our business needs.
Nice to have but not essential:
  • Driving licence is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite or similar system.
  • Purchasing / Stock control experience.
  • Good telephone & email manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications including Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience of working to KPI’s (agreed by Line Manager).
